Anko Antabak, MD, PhD, associate professor, specialist in pediatric surgery, born on January 19, 1962,  in Tuzla, Croatian  nationality. Graduated from the School of Medicine  Zagreb in 1987. General practitioner   in Health Center Trnje 1987-1991.  Participant in the Homeland War (medical formation) 1991-1992. Resident in pediatric surgery (1992-1997), Department of surgery, University Hospital Centre Zagreb, afterwards employee  at the Division of pediatric surgery. Founder and head of the Day surgery, University Hospital Centre Zagreb (2008-2018). Postgraduate study in biology (Faculty of Science, Zagreb), MSc  in 1996, PhD in 2005 (School of Medicine, Zagreb). Member of several local and international professional societies. Active member of  the Croatian Medical Association,  Croatian Society of Surgery, Croatian Trauma Society, vice-president of the Croatian Society of Pediatric Surgery. Since 1992  researcher in three scientific projecs of the Croatian Ministry of Science, and several projects at the University Hospital Centre Zagreb.  Since 2015 co-leader   of  the project of the Institute for Medical Research Zagreb. Published papers  and reviewer in several local and international professional journals.  Until 2019,  204 published references, 70 indexed in CC, ESCI, IM, EM, Scopus, 288 citations in SCI. Member of several professional and scientific committees. Mentor to surgery residents, postgraduate students, doctoral students, and  student  theses at the School of  Medicine Zagreb. Continuing education at local and international study visits and courses. Teacher in several courses  at undergraduate  and postgraduate studies, co-leader of postgraduate study  Pediatric surgery, School of Medicine, Zagreb.
