INDIKACIJE ZA TONZILEKTOMIJU U DJECE DO 16 GODINA U KLINICI ZA OTORINOLARINGOLOGIJU I KIRURGIJU GLAVE I VRATA KB »SESTRE MILOSRDNICE«

Sažetak. Cilj studije: istražiti učestalost indikacija za tonzilektomiju u ORL klinici KB »Sestre milosrdnice«, raspodjelu prema dobi pacijenata, spolu. Prikazati povijest tonzilektomija. Metode: retrospektivna studija, podaci su dobiveni ciljanim pregledom anamneza i kliničkog statusa operirane djece. Rezultati: u devetogodišnjem razdoblju 1995.–2003. ukupan broj operacija bio je 4704, muške djece 2527, ženske 2177, tonzilektomija je bilo 2692, adenoidektomija 2011, 1 tonzilektomija »a chaud«. Najčešća indikacija za tonzilektomiju bila je recidivirajući tonzilitis (72%), slijede adenotonzilarna hiperplazija (13%), kronični tonzilitis (12%), fokaloze (1%) i peritonzilarni apsces (2%). Raspodjela po operateru: 80% operacija napravili su specijalisti ORL, 20% specijalizanti. Raspodjela po dobi pacijenta: najčešće se navedene operacije rade u dobi od 4 godine (oko 800 pacijenata). Zaključak: najčešća indikacija za tonzilektomiju prema ovoj studiji je recidivirajući tonzilitis. Indikacije za tonzilektomiju su jasno određene i treba ih slijediti.

Summary. Aim of the study: To study frequency and type of indications for tonsillectomy in ENT Department of »Sestre milosrdnice« Clinical Hospital, distribution of operations according to the age and sex of the patients. To present history of tonsi¬llectomies. Methods: Retrospective study, information collected by clinical documentation review (anamnesis, physical findings). Results: In the nine-year period 1995 – 2003 the total number of operations was 4704, 2527 male, 2177 female patients. There were 2692 tonsillectomies, 2011 adenotomies and 1 tonsillectomy »a chaud«. The most frequent indication for tonsillectomy was recurrent tonsillitis (72%), followed by adenotonsillar hypertrophy (13%), chronic tonsi¬llitis (12%), focaloses (1%) and peritonsillar abscess (2%). Distribution according to the surgeon: 80% of the operations were performed by specialists, 20% by residents. According to the age of patient: operations were most often performed at the age of 4 (800 patients). Conclusion: According to this study the most frequent indication for tonsillectomy was recurrent tonsillitis. Indications for tonsillectomy are clearly defined and as such should be followed.
